Monterey Amberjacks Rally Past Vallejo Seaweed 10-7

May 26 2023 The Monterey Amberjacks scored six runs in the sixth inning and defeated the Vallejo Seaweed 10-7. Monterey finished with 11 hits while Vallejo collected eight. The Amberjacks also overcame a 3-1 deficit after four innings by scoring twice in the fifth and six times in the sixth.

Sean Jackson led Vallejo with two hits and three RBIs including a home run. Mickey Nunes and Braxton King each added two hits while Ike Brown drove in two runs. Vallejo scored three times in the sixth and twice in the seventh but could not complete the comeback.

Monterey received home runs from Joshua Rodriguez and Dominic Scotti. Rodriguez had two RBIs while Scotti went 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI. Ryan Diaz scored twice and stole two bases and Robert Malone reached base three times with a hit two walks and an RBI.

Anthony Ward started for Monterey and allowed three hits and four runs three earned in 5.1 innings while striking out five. Nick Samudio earned the win after pitching 0.2 scoreless innings and Dominic Scotti recorded the save. Vallejo starter David Gustatson pitched eight innings but was charged with 10 runs on 11 hits and 11 walks while striking out five.
