Bakersfield Train Robbers Roll Past Vallejo Seaweed 24-8

June 3 2023 The Bakersfield Train Robbers defeated the Vallejo Seaweed 24-8 at Sam Lynn Ballpark, outhitting Vallejo 29-11. Bakersfield took control early with four runs in the first inning and five in the second, then added two runs in each of the third and fourth innings. Vallejo scored four times in the fifth, but the Train Robbers answered with a run in the bottom half and pulled away with three runs in the sixth, three in the seventh and four in the eighth. Aramis Cruz led Bakersfield with five hits and seven RBI. Blake Vandiver added four hits and scored five runs, while Rick Phillips went 4-for-5 with three RBI and three runs scored. Christian Jones contributed three hits and five RBI, and Max Tracey had three hits, three RBI and two runs. Phillips hit two home runs, while Cruz and Tracey each added one. Joe Riddle earned the win after allowing 11 hits and eight runs, five earned, in five innings while striking out four and walking two. Cameron Isbell and Hunter Adams combined to pitch four scoreless innings in relief, allowing no hits. Vallejo starter Phil Rowland took the loss after surrendering eight runs in two innings, and the Seaweed used DeAndre Abram and Chris Hess in relief.
