Monterey Amberjacks Rally Past Vallejo Seaweed 10-9

June 8 2023 The Monterey Amberjacks erased an early four-run deficit with an eight-run seventh inning and held on for a 10-9 victory over the Vallejo Seaweed. Monterey finished with 12 hits and three errors while Vallejo collected 10 hits without committing an error.

Vallejo led 4-0 after two innings and added two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh to take a 7-0 advantage. Monterey answered with eight runs in the seventh and added two more in the ninth. Vallejo scored twice in the bottom of the ninth but could not complete the comeback.

Matt Palmer led Monterey with three hits in four at-bats. Kyler Rinehart went 2-for-2 with three walks, while Adrian Garcia, Rodney Scarver, Anthony Ward and Alex Westman each drove in two runs. Scarver also collected a pair of doubles and scored once. Vallejos Sean Jackson had three hits in four at-bats, and Dandre Gaines went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Jonathan Garza earned the win for Monterey after allowing three hits and two runs over 4.1 innings, with two walks and one strikeout. Dominic Scotti recorded the save with a scoreless two-thirds of an inning. Vallejo starter Phil Rowland struck out nine and allowed five hits over six scoreless innings, but DeAndre Abram took the loss after surrendering eight runs on four hits in one inning.
