Vallejo Rallies Past Bakersfield 9-5

June 10 2023 The Vallejo Seaweed defeated the Bakersfield Train Robbers 9-5 after scoring four runs in the seventh inning to break a 5-5 tie. Vallejo finished with 10 hits, while Bakersfield collected nine. The Seaweed scored in each of the first six innings except the second before their decisive seventh-inning outburst.

Dandre Gaines led Vallejo with three hits, including a home run, three runs and one RBI. Mickey Nunes went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, two walks and three stolen bases. Tinmion Hughes added two hits, one run and one RBI, while Ike Brown drove in two runs. Bakersfield’s Joe Riddle went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI, and Dominic Moore had two hits and two RBI.

Sean Jackson earned the win for Vallejo after allowing nine hits and five runs, three earned, in seven innings. He walked two and struck out eight. Chris Hess and Quentin Oexner each worked a scoreless inning in relief. Aaron Hurt took the loss for Bakersfield after permitting seven hits and five runs, four earned, in six innings, while Cameron Isbell was charged with four runs in the seventh without recording an out.
