Bakersfield Holds Off Vallejo 11-10

June 11 2023 The Bakersfield Train Robbers defeated the Vallejo Seaweed 11-10 in a back-and-forth game. Bakersfield collected 12 hits and Vallejo finished with 13, while the Train Robbers committed four errors compared with three by Vallejo.

Bakersfield built a 10-9 lead through seven innings after scoring twice in the second, twice in the fifth, three runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh. Vallejo answered with six runs in the seventh and added a tying run in the eighth, but Bakersfield scored the go-ahead run in the 10th inning to secure the victory.

Joe Riddle led Bakersfield with three hits, three runs and three RBI. Christian Jones scored three times and had two hits, while Raul Ortega added three hits, including a triple, and three RBI. Vallejos Kyrin Coleman had three hits and four RBI, and Ike Brown drove in three runs with two hits. No home runs were listed in the box score.

Paul Von Zboray earned the win for Bakersfield after allowing four hits and three runs, two earned, in 3.2 innings. Chris Rodriguez struck out 11 over 6.1 innings for the Train Robbers, while Vallejo starter Tavon Gibbs worked five innings and allowed six hits and five runs, four earned. Kyle Kotecki took the loss for Vallejo after allowing one hit and one run in 2.1 innings.
