Bakersfield Rally Past Vallejo 12-11

June 12 2023 The Bakersfield Train Robbers rallied from an eight-run deficit to defeat the Vallejo Seaweed 12-11. Vallejo scored six runs in the first inning and two more in the second to take an 8-0 lead, but Bakersfield answered with four runs in the third and five in the fourth to move in front 9-8. The teams traded a run in the fifth before Vallejo took an 11-10 lead with a run in the seventh. Bakersfield scored twice in the ninth to secure the victory.

Rick Phillips led Bakersfield with two hits, including a home run, and three RBIs. Joe Riddle added two hits and two RBIs, while Dominic Moore and Aramis Cruz each collected two hits. Paul Von Zboray drove in two runs, and Hunter Adams had one hit and one RBI. Bakersfield finished with nine hits and eight walks.

Vallejo collected 15 hits, led by Dandre Gaines with three hits, including a double and a triple, and two runs scored. Caleb Natov had two hits and three RBIs, while Mickey Nunes and Sean Jackson each recorded two hits. Austin Toerner allowed eight runs on 10 hits in three innings for Bakersfield, but Gehrig Taylor earned the win after allowing three runs on five hits over six innings with four strikeouts. Braxton King took the loss for Vallejo despite allowing two runs, none earned, in 2 2/3 innings.
