Lancaster Holds Off Vallejo 13-11

June 15 2023 The Lancaster Sound Breakers defeated the Vallejo Seaweed 13-11 in a high-scoring game. Lancaster collected 17 hits and built an early lead with four runs in the first inning, then added three in the fourth, three in the eighth and three in the ninth. Vallejo answered with four runs in the sixth but could not complete the comeback, finishing with 14 hits.

Andrew Castano led Lancaster with two hits and five RBI, including a home run. Nate Duarte went 4-for-5 with four runs, three RBI and a double, while Christian Quezada added four hits and two RBI. Kyle Jenkins finished 3-for-5 with three runs, two RBI and a double.

Vallejos Dandre Gaines went 4-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored. Mickey Nunes contributed three runs and two RBI, and Ike Brown and Caleb Natov each drove in two runs.

Lancaster starter Tyler Hopper earned the win after going the distance, allowing 14 hits and 11 runs, 10 earned, while walking five and striking out 11. Vallejo starter David Gustatson took the loss after allowing seven hits and six runs, five earned, in 4.2 innings with three strikeouts and four walks. Kyle Kotecki allowed 10 hits and seven runs, six earned, over 4.1 innings.
