Train Robbers Power Past Seaweed 20-10

June 30 2023 The Bakersfield Train Robbers defeated the Vallejo Seaweed 20-10 in a high-scoring game at Wilson Park. Bakersfield collected 14 hits and scored in seven innings, including a five-run fifth and seventh inning and four runs in the ninth. Vallejo finished with 11 hits and committed five errors.

Rick Phillips led Bakersfield with four hits, three runs, three RBI and a home run. Seth Strong added two hits, two runs and four RBI with a home run, while Chris Iazzetta, Joe Riddle and Paul Von Zboray also homered and drove in three runs apiece. Max Tracey scored five runs and had three hits, including a triple, while Goodwin contributed a home run and an RBI.

Vallejo took advantage of a five-run third inning and added one run in the fourth and fifth, but Bakersfield pulled away with five runs in the fifth and seventh. Dandre Gaines hit a three-run home run for the Seaweed, and Ike Brown added a two-run homer. Aaron Hurt earned the win after allowing 10 hits and eight runs six earned over five innings with four strikeouts. Sadler Goodwin recorded the save with four innings of relief allowing one hit and two runs while striking out five. Sean Jackson took the loss for Vallejo.
