Martinez Sturgeon Pull Away for 15-4 Win Over Vallejo

July 2 2023 The Martinez Sturgeon defeated the Vallejo Seaweed 15-4 in an eight-inning game. Martinez collected 10 hits and scored four runs in the first inning before adding three in the fifth and eight in the seventh to pull away. Vallejo scored three runs in the fifth and one in the sixth but could not keep pace.

Eric Whitfield led Martinez with two hits two walks three runs and three RBI. Luke Johnson added two RBI while Sam Freedman had two hits and an RBI. Tony Riley and Cain Agis each drove in two runs, and Nick Adgar scored three times while reaching base four times.

Erik Estrada earned the win for Martinez after allowing six hits and four runs over six innings with three walks and one strikeout. Isaiah Chavez followed with two scoreless innings, allowing no hits while striking out two. Vallejo starter Phil Rowland took the loss after giving up seven hits and seven runs over 4.1 innings, with three earned runs two walks and four strikeouts.
