San Rafael Rallies Past Vallejo 8-7

July 7 2023 The San Rafael Pacifics rallied for three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat the Vallejo Seaweed 8-7 at Albert Park. San Rafael scored in each of the first three innings before Vallejo surged ahead with a five-run fifth and added another run in the ninth.

Kyle Guerra and Blake Diggle each had two hits and a home run for San Rafael. Guerra drove in one run and scored once while Diggle scored twice and had one RBI. John Bicos also went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Gerald Nervis and Nick Smith each added an RBI for the Pacifics.

Vallejo was led by Mickey Nunes who went 3-for-5 and Dandre Gaines who had two hits three runs and one RBI. Gary Mason Jr. collected two hits and two RBIs while Sean Jackson drove in two runs. Vallejo finished with nine hits and San Rafael also had nine.

San Rafael used three pitchers in the win. Kohto Hasegawa allowed seven hits and six runs in 5.1 innings while Chris Johnson followed with 2.2 scoreless innings allowing one hit and striking out four. Austin Fitzpatrick earned the win after allowing one run in one inning. Sean Jackson struck out 11 in eight innings for Vallejo but allowed six earned runs and Quentin Oexner took the loss after surrendering two runs and issuing three walks in two-thirds of an inning.
