Martinez Sturgeon Rally Past Vallejo Seaweed 14-11

July 19 2023 The Martinez Sturgeon defeated the Vallejo Seaweed 14-11 in a high-scoring game at Wilson Park. Martinez collected 12 hits and overcame five errors while Vallejo finished with 15 hits and one error.

Martinez jumped ahead 4-3 in the first inning and extended its lead to 7-4 in the second. Vallejo answered with four runs in the third and three more in the fifth to take an 11-7 advantage. The Sturgeon then scored once in the seventh five times in the eighth and once in the ninth to complete the comeback.

Nick Adgar went 2-for-4 with three RBI for Martinez while Sam Freedman and Trevor Rodgers each had two hits and two RBI. Tony Riley added two hits three walks and one RBI. Jon Fargnoli contributed a double and three RBI and Luke Johnson had a double and one RBI.

Ike Brown led Vallejo with three hits and three RBI. Braxton King hit a home run and drove in one run while Nick DiBenedetto had three hits and one RBI. Thomas Fitzpatrick added two hits and two RBI.

Fargnoli earned the win after allowing four hits and no runs with one strikeout in 4.1 innings. Casey Blas started for Martinez and allowed 11 runs six earned on 11 hits in 4.2 innings. Alexander Owens took the loss for Vallejo after surrendering four runs on two hits in one-third of an inning.
