Vallejo Seaweed Rally to 9-5 Win Over Monterey Amberjacks July 17 2023

July 17 2023 The Vallejo Seaweed scored nine consecutive runs across the second through sixth innings to defeat the Monterey Amberjacks 9-5. Vallejo collected 11 hits and overcame a three-run first inning by Monterey, which finished with seven hits. The Seaweed also capitalized on two Monterey errors.

Vallejo took the lead with a three-run third inning after scoring twice in the second. The Seaweed added single runs in the fourth and fifth before breaking the game open with two runs in the sixth. Jalen Ford scored four runs and drove in one, while Sean Jackson went 4-for-5 with an RBI. Nick DiBennedetto added four hits and three RBIs, and Ike Brown reached base three times with a hit, two walks and an RBI. Mickey Nunes scored twice and drew four walks.

DiBennedetto earned the win with a complete-game effort, allowing seven hits and five runs, four earned, while walking three and striking out three over nine innings. Emmanuel Benavidez took the loss for Monterey after allowing five runs on five hits with four walks and one strikeout in three innings. Montereys Hiroki Goke went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Rodney Scarver and Gabriel Murillo each added an RBI.
