Dublin Leprechauns Outlast Vallejo Seaweed 16-13

July 21 2023 The Dublin Leprechauns defeated the Vallejo Seaweed 16-13 in a high-scoring game at Wilson Park. Dublin finished with 15 hits and no errors while Vallejo collected 12 hits and committed seven errors.

Dublin and Vallejo traded three-run first innings before Dublin moved ahead with four runs in the third. Vallejo answered with two runs in the third and two more in the fourth to tie the game at 7-7. Dublin regained the lead with two runs in the fifth, but Vallejo scored five in the eighth to take a 12-9 advantage. Dublin responded with four runs in the bottom half of the inning and added three more in the ninth. Vallejo scored once in the ninth but could not complete the comeback.

Kairee Tekra led Dublin with four hits and four RBI, while Ashanti Ross went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored. Mark Jacob added three RBI, and Meltavis Robertson had two hits, two runs and an RBI. For Vallejo, Sean Jackson reached base five times with two hits and three walks while scoring four runs. Jalen Ford and Nick DiBenedetto each drove in three runs, and Gary Mason Jr. had two hits and three RBI.

JC Shepherd earned the win for Dublin after allowing two runs on two hits in two innings. Meltavis Robertson recorded the save despite allowing six runs on seven hits over 4 1/3 innings. Phil Rowland took the loss for Vallejo after surrendering nine runs on eight hits in five innings, although only two of the runs were earned. Kyle Kotecki held Dublin scoreless for two innings with three strikeouts before Vallejo used three additional pitchers in the final three innings.
