July 19 2024 The Vallejo Seaweed rallied from an early deficit to defeat the Martinez Sturgeon 10-7. Vallejo totaled 14 hits and scored six runs in the fifth inning to erase a 7-2 disadvantage, then added a run in the sixth and three in the seventh to secure the victory.
Antonio Straughter powered Vallejo at the plate and on the mound. The winning pitcher went 2-for-5 with two runs and three RBI, including a double and a triple, while completing the game with nine innings of work. Straughter allowed 10 hits and seven runs, five earned, walked two and struck out six.
Henry Paulino went 3-for-5 with an RBI for Vallejo, while Mickey Nunes and Michael Palvecheck each collected two hits. Carlos Drain added a hit and two RBI, and Aaron Harper had a hit, a walk and an RBI. Vallejos five-run rally in the fifth was highlighted by a three-run surge that put the Seaweed in front for good.
Erik Whitfield led Martinez with three hits and two RBI. Dante Peretti had two hits and two RBI, and Caleb Natov added two hits, including a home run, with one RBI. Gabriel Rojas worked three scoreless innings for Martinez, but the Sturgeon used seven pitchers in the loss. Elijah Pacheco-Martinez was charged with the defeat after allowing three runs in one inning.
