Monterey Holds Off Vallejo 8-4

July 18 2025 The Monterey Amberjacks defeated the Vallejo Seaweed 8-4 at Wilson Park, scoring in the first sixth and ninth innings to secure the victory. Monterey collected 13 hits and played error-free baseball while Vallejo finished with six hits and committed three errors.

Monterey built an early 2-1 lead in the first inning and added another run in the second before breaking the game open with a three-run sixth. Vallejo scored twice in the ninth but could not complete the comeback. Monterey also scored three times in the ninth to finish with eight runs.

Alex Elliott led Monterey with four hits in five at-bats and drove in one run. Luis Medina and Tyler Toland each had two hits while Toland scored three runs and added an RBI. Ramiro Reyna went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, and Trenton Avitia and Oswaldo Caldera also drove in runs.

Brayden Harper earned the win after allowing two runs on five hits in six innings. He walked six and struck out one. Alain Sandoval recorded the save with three innings of relief, allowing one hit and two runs while striking out four. Vallejo starter Francisco Leon went the distance but took the loss after surrendering eight runs on 13 hits, with six of the runs earned.
